Field-proven flux core wire solutions for repair brazing and soldering of aluminum heat exchangers and automotive components. Designed for torch application without the need for separate flux or furnace equipment.
Aluminum heat exchangers — radiators, condensers, evaporators, and intercoolers — are repaired in the field using torch brazing or soldering techniques. Unlike furnace processes, repair work requires materials that carry their own flux and perform reliably under variable torch temperatures.
BTE's repair wire range covers the full temperature spectrum: from low-temperature soldering (Soldertec™ 375–388°C) through higher-temperature aluminium soldering (Soldertec™ Plus 440–470°C) to true aluminium brazing (Alumatec™ 575–585°C). Each wire carries its own flux core, eliminating the need for a separate flux paste step.
Soldertec™ is the lowest-temperature wire in the repair range, suitable for joining aluminum where heat input must be minimised. The Al 98% / Zn 2% alloy produces joints at temperatures well below the base aluminum melting point, making it ideal for thin-wall components and situations where distortion risk is high.
| Composition | Al 98% / Zn 2% |
| Wire Type | Flux Core |
| Flux Core % | 10–26% |
| Melting Range | 375°C – 388°C |
| Diameters | 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 mm |
| Form | 500 mm cut / 5 kg spool |
Soldertec™ Plus uses a higher zinc content (Al 78% / Zn 22%) to deliver improved joint strength and better wetting on aluminium surfaces compared to the 980 grade. The higher zinc content improves flow into joint gaps and produces a more robust repair on components operating under pressure or mechanical load.
| Composition | Al 78% / Zn 22% |
| Wire Type | Flux Core |
| Flux Core % | 10–26% |
| Melting Range | 440°C – 470°C |
| Diameters | 1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 mm |
| Form | 500 mm cut / 5 kg spool |
Alumatec™ is a true aluminum-silicon brazing wire for field repair at brazing temperatures. The Al 88% / Si 12% composition produces joints with mechanical properties approaching the base alloy — significantly stronger than soldered repairs. Requires higher heat input and torch skill but produces the most durable repair for structural or high-pressure applications.
